FUN* with negative exponents!
Today in another exciting day in algebra we went over negative exponents and how to convert them by flipping to either the numerator or the denominator. we started the morning with a warm up followed writting down notes about the negative exponents in are card notes. After that we worked on a new mad minute, followed by working on the whiteboards to get better with are skills at the negative exponents routine. What was collected today was the 8.3 practice sheet.

We worked on Carnegie Learning today to practice our math skills. Yesterday we learned how the vertex moved on a graph and how the slope changed depending on the number substituted for "a". We graph the vertex on the origin first and then we figured out how to move it depending on the numbers inside and outside of the absolute value bars.

We noticed when the number was inside, the vertex moved over to the right or left.

Baking some cake! Matt Dube
Today we worked more on solving inequalities by creating a cake and having people work on the different layers and determine what length the cake should be by using inequalities. We also learned that an absolute value has no solution when its equal to a negative number. We also learned how your absolute value related to error. we also timed ourselves with stopwatches and tried to guess when a minute went by.

Absolute Value Inequalities-Miss Benware
Today we worked on Absolute Value equations. We learned that we must get the absolute value alone before we write the two equations. (Make the mountain or upside down V) We learned how to graph absolute value inequalities. To solve an absolute value inequality you keep one inequality the same on the other inequality you flip the sign and make the number negative.
